I’m new here. I was referred by Emmet Leahy at Clawhammer Supply to ask this question here.

I asked him if I bought a bottle of cheap whiskey Like Jim Beam and wanted to make it smoother, 1. was it possible? and 2. what would I use to do that.

I ask because distilling in Louisiana is absolutely forbidden. As a disabled ex-cop, I really don’t want to go to prison. So the only option is to make what I get off the shelf better. I am a huge fan of Gentleman Jack Daniels. As I get older, I have come to appreciate the finer, smoother whiskeys. Unfortunately, two back surgeries have put me out of work so my income is not what it once was and I have to settle for cheap (ugh).

I was wondering if I ran it through one of those charcoal filtering pitchers for water, would that be the same as charcoal filtering?
      Thanks for your help.
      Mike
