spice pot vs thumper ?

I recently purchased the following setup. I was wondering can what they are referring to as a “spice pot” be used as a thumper. My worry is since the spice pot’s connection is at the bottom, that it might be an issue with the liquid trying to drain from the thumper back into the boiler. Any thought’s, suggestions, or tips would be greatly appreciated.
