SpawnmanParticipant
Also what type of thermometer should be used for the pot? I have one put its plastic.
SpawnmanParticipantIs the flaked maize really needed or can I do without it? Or is there an alternative I can buy at a local grocery store that will work the same? Thanks!
SpawnmanParticipantI don’t have a hydrometer but is it possible they could still be ready even with bubbles still rising and the balloons still not deflated?
SpawnmanParticipantAlso how much yeast should I use for a 5 gallon mash pale? Thanks!
SpawnmanParticipantWill this do the job? https://brewcamp.com/shop/product/amylase-enzyme-1oz
SpawnmanParticipantDoes the cornmeal need to be boiled first before mixing it with the sugar?
SpawnmanParticipantSpawnmanParticipantNow I have read and seen in youtube videos that you need to use Amylase Enzymes to convert the starch from corn into sugar. Is this really needed or is there a cheaper product I can buy at the local store that will do the same thing?
SpawnmanParticipantThat’s just out of my price range right now. I was just looking for something simple and effective to start out with and then maybe invest in something more expensive in the future. I am not worried about a leak or two as long as it doesn’t explode!
SpawnmanParticipantSpawnmanParticipantSpawnmanParticipantSpawnmanParticipant40 cans seems like allot for a total of 7 gallons in a bucket including water. What is C&H sugar? I just use regular table sugar from the store. Keep me posted I might want to try this one!
SpawnmanParticipantThanks! Any idea how much shine I can expect to get out of a 5 gallon mash? Could I ad fruit to the mash for flavor and an extra kick? Maybe berries or something?
SpawnmanParticipantI am not an expert but that sounds like a good recipe to try. I would think the fruit would be fine as long as the yeast is working. I would ad sugar to the mash if I where you. Maybe someone else can chime in on this as well. Good luck! Let us know how it turns out!
