JunkmanlouieParticipant
I have a 1gal clawhammer still. I was concerned about wasted water so I run an aquarium pump for a closed loop into a 5 gal bucket. I realize your still will need a bigger reservoir. I live in town and don’t need the questions about a constantly wet yard or big water bill.
JunkmanlouieParticipantIs the 10gal hard to clean? How big is the opening? You would have to get your arm into the still for cleaning, won’t you?
JunkmanlouieParticipantI got the claw hammer kit. Trying to use what I had around instead of buying tubing. Thanks
JunkmanlouieParticipantI tasted it after posting and shut it down. Nothing was left. Saved the tails for the next run (Thanks Beverage commander). It didn’t get boiling. I didn’t think that was the point. Still learning. Thanks for the input. By now I have run the tails of this batch thru and the second was as good as the first. The Honey is a really good starting place.
JunkmanlouieParticipantI’m fermenting a batch with blackberries and blueberries. Keep you posted.
JunkmanlouieParticipantI’m just using an old hot plate. Used it for chemical dip 2 years ago. Seems to be working okay today. Cleaned my still with vinegar and running my first batch today. Been holding at 210F for hours. An open flame is dangerous in a lot of ways.
JunkmanlouieParticipantThanks for the input Richard. My patience is lacking. I activated another batch of yeast per the instructions you referred to @ the clawhammer site. Added it already. Did I ruin this? My recipe is the clawhammer site’s Honey ‘shine.
JunkmanlouieParticipantDid not take a reading originally.
JunkmanlouieParticipantChecked the wash. The reading was 1.010
